Brahmatal Trek
Brahmatal trek is one of the best winter session trek. It not only known for its enormous beauty but also its connection with mythology (which is believed to be the meditation site of Lord Brahma). It is situated 7000 ft approx., above the sea level, in Uttarkhand, Garhwal region. In the morning you never not be imagined how it look when sun’s first rays kissing a snow-clad peak and in night. When sky full of stars, it completely mesmerizing you. Throughout the trail you find the spectacular views of Himalayan & some of the its famous Mountains and Peaks like, Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nadaghunti, Mt. Chowkhamba, Mt. Hathi, Peaks Neelkanth etc. You can see these Mountains and Peaks very clearly and closely. This trek take one through beautiful valleys, streams and inside the jungle where you find rhododendron, Ceder, Fir tree and many other flora and fauna. This trail give you lot more than you have ever seen.
Day Wise Detailed Itinerary of Brahmatal Trek
Distance to Trek 6 km of 4-5 hours
Altitude Gain: 700m/ 2,150 ft
Difficulty: Moderate ascent through the forest Hot lunch at the campsite Water Source: Water Sources: Springs and man-made water sources
Bekaltal is a 15 minute walk from the campsite.
Enjoy a walk in the evening to Bekalatal Lake and enjoy a Sunset views Tents Stay
Brahmatal 3.200 meters/ 10,450 feet
Jhandi Top: 3,400 m/ 11,150 ft
Distance of the Trek 7 km of 6-7 hrs
Altitude Gain: 400 m/ 1,300 ft
The ascent is steep for 1.3 hours via Bekaltal and then gradual ascent. The descent is steep in the next section. The final stretch includes a gradual descent to the campsite.
Hot food is served at the campsite.
Water Source: No water source is available on the way; therefore, carry at least two bottles of water from the campsite.
A beautiful day can be seen in Shivalik and the Greater Himalayas.

What should you pack for the Brahmatal Trek
Clothes
When trekking in high altitudes, prepare for cold weather by wearing layers. Layering traps heat, keeps you warm, and allows you to easily adjust your clothing as temperatures fluctuate.Layering is important for different seasons when trekking to Brahmatal Trek. Wearing layers is the best approach as it provides both protection and flexibility when the weather changes frequently in the mountains.
Shoes for Trekking
Trekking shoes whichare waterproof and have ankle support. Walking / Hiking sandals which can be used off the trek, i.e., in the morning and evening hours when you reach the campsite, basically to get your feet rest from heavy boots, sometimes used for crossing streams and rivers, it’s more comfortable and safer than crossing barefoot or wetting your shoes.
First-Aid kit
Below are some common medicines generally required/used during your adventure trip; however, please consult your doctors prior.
- Antiseptic towel or water syringe (to clean the wound)
- Butterfly bandage for a small cut
- Cotton and elastic bandages and sterile gauze pad for larger wounds
- Latex gloves are used when the wound bleeds

This trek takes you to the beautiful Brahmatal Lake which is situated at an altitude of 12,200 feet above sea level. Situated at a high altitude, this lake remains frozen during the winter months. Witness the crystal-clear snow scene and have a wonderful view of a frozen lake amidst the Himalayas. Also, one the way you will you will see Bekaltal which is one of the best attractions of the Brahmatal Trek.

Brahmatal Trek Weather -Temperature (December, January and February):
Brahmatal is an altitude of 12,200 feet, and despite winter being at its peak in the month of December, the Brahmatal trek is generally safe. The trek remains active during this time and you get white snow cover in most part of the trek. The snow looks amazing on the Brahmatal trek and it feels like you are in heaven.
As you step towards the Brahmatal trek from Lohajung, you see the majestic oak and luscious rhododendron trees bending under the weight of snow, giving off a mesmerizing aura along the trekking trail. Bekaltal Lake freezes in peak winter and you can enjoy by stepping on this frozen lake. The rays of sunrise falling over the snow on the Brahmatal trek look vibrant.
Brahmatal Trek is one of the most popular Himalayan treks for its stunning mountain peak views. It offers a spectacular view of some of the most beautiful hills like Mount Nada Ghunti, Mount Trishul, Hathi Goda, Kamet, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth which is one of the highest mountain peaks in the world. The view of mountains in snow creates a feeling of awe and wonder.
During the day, the temperature usually ranges between 8 to 12 °C, and at night, it can drop to between 0 to -8 °C. Given the possibility of temperatures dropping below zero, it is essential to have at least five layers of clothing, including thermals, warm T-shirts, fleece sweaters, padded jackets and wind-cheaters.
Since snowfall can occur at any time during the Brahmatal trek in winter, it is advised that you carry a poncho or rain cover with you. Additionally, don’t forget to wear crampons and gaiters on your feet to ensure safe and comfortable hiking on the trail.
DAY 1: Lohajung (7800ft)
- After arrival on Lohajung our representative will meet you here and will assist for check in at Guest House/ Lodge.
- Rest of the day at leisure at Village.
DAY 2: Lohajung to Gujarani (9800ft, 5 KM, 5 Hr)
- After take hot breakfast, we move for our first base campsite Gujarani .
- Today we cover 8 km long trek in4-5hr crossing the rhododendron tree jungle.
- From Begum, we take some rest here, this place provides awesome views of Navali Bugyal and Bagji Bugyal.
- After feel energetic we move to Gujarani. Pitch camphere and serve hot lunch.
- Here you enjoy snow and forget about your tiredness.
- Dinner & overnight stay in camp.
DAY 3: Gujarani to Telandi (10400ft, 7KM, 8 Hr)
- We break camps early & start trek for Brahmtal (3400M), the place where Lord Brahma is said to have meditated long ago.
- This forest is home to Monal, the State bird of Uttrakhand.
- Views of peaks like Trishul, Bithartoli & Nandaghunti will keep your cameras busy today.
- The lake of Brahmatal is small in size & is difficult to locate from a distance especially in winters when it’s completely frozen.
- We will find a camping spot by the lake & set up camps for the night.
- It can be very cold here in the months of winters but our camps & sleeping bags will keep us warm during the night.
DAY 4: Telandi to Brahmtal Top return Brahmtal (12300ft, 7 KM, 6 Hr)
- Today’s is an easy day. You can choose to carry a daypack & leave your backpack in the camps as we will be returning to the same camp.
- We trek to the Brahmtal Top ( 3846 M). Look out for the magnificent views of Himalayan range on your right.
- Two of the most prominent peaks are Mt. Trishul, Nandaghunti which look so close as if you are watching them on a theatre screen.
- Return to the camp.
DAY 5: Brahmtal to Lohajung
- This day marks the end of the magnificent trek.
- After enjoying the best views and the snow laden trail, we move to Lohajung.
- We will reach Lohajung by the afternoon.
- This day could be used to rest as well as explore the small town and hear the mythological stories by the locals and immerse in their culture.
- Stay in the guest house.
DAY 6: Departure Lohajung Village.
In the morning board vehicle for the return journey to Kathgodam with sweet memory of this beautiful trek.
- Accommodation: Hotel / Lodge / Camp.
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Tea and Snacks.
- Trek equipments (Sleeping bag, mattress, Kitchen-tent, Trekking-Tent, Crampons, Gaitor, Utensils).
- All necessary permits and entry fees.
- First aid medical-kits.
- Experience Trek Leader / Guide and Support staff, who are very well familiar with local conditions, routes and mythological stories which are related to this whole trek.
- Any kind of personal expenses.
- Mules or porter carry personal luggage of team. If any one not able to carry his luggage, charges are extra Rs. 400/- per bag/per day.
- Transportation from their home to Lohajung. If guest want us to arrange transport, we also do it.
- If any one want extra sight-seen visit which is not mentioned above, Charges extra.
- Anything which is not mentioned under the inclusion is exclusion.

- Bring ID proof ask by forest dept.
- Back pack (60 ltr -70ltr)- with comfortable shoulder straps, frame, and back pack cover (line the bag with polythene).
- Waterproof Trekking shoes – Mandatory high ankle with good grips.
- 2 synthetic /waterproof Track Pants (Do not bring shorts, tight jeans, Capris)
- T-shirts – 3 full sleeve.
- 1 Fleece jacket will be a good idea; a woollen sweater would be an alternative.
- 1 Wind proof jacket, 1 Heavy jacket, Thermal Inners.
- 2 pairs cotton socks and 2 pairs woollen socks, 2 pair water proof hand gloves.
- Sun protection cream, Woolen monkey cap/balaclava that cover the ear.
- A woolen head-scarf or muffler/ Sun Cap.
- Sun glasses – Dark with side cover, it should be U/V protected. Curved ones will cover your eyes well.
- Head Torch with extra batteries, Power Bank to charge mobile, if you not spoil your trek.
- Water bottle- one liter each.
- Lip Balm/ cold cream/Hand Sanitizer, Toilet kit/ toilet Paper / wipes.
- Quick dry Towel- It should be light / thin, Walking Stick – Mandatory (At least one).
- Gaiters advisable Trek.
