It is one of the holy shrine of Char Dham. It is located at 31.01 degree north to 88.45degree east. It has an elevation of 3,954 meters. The temple is dedicated to Yamuna, the second most sacred river after Ganges. A dip in the river Yamuna is said to protect from ultimate death.

GANGOTRI
It is a town in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. It is 99 km from Uttarkashi. It is a Hindu pilgrim town on the banks of the river Bhagirathi. The town is located on the Greater Himalayan Range at a height of 3,100 meters. According to a popular Hindu legend, the goddess Ganga descended here when Shiva released the mighty river from the locks of his hair.
Best time to visit Gangotri
The best time to visit Gangotri is between April and June and between September and October. Gangotri weather in summer is warm. Travelling can be challenging in monsoons because of the rainfall. In winters, Gangotri temperatures falls.
There are lots of tourist places in Gangotri. You can also do 18 km trek to Gaumukh. Tourist from all over the world come to experience this trek. You can also go 46 km trek Tapovan which will take 6 to 8 days. Tourists can also visit Gangotri Temple which was constructed General Amar Singh Thapa in18 century as a memorial to goddess Ganga. During the Akshya trivia festival in the month of May, the temple opens and by October it closed for the winter.
KEDARNATH
This temple is one of the Char Dham in India. It is the 11 jyotirlingas in India. It is located in the Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. The temple is open to Public only between April and November due to extremely cold weather. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Itis situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level. The journey to Kedarnath is not physical but also spiritual. The journey goes with winding roads and icy streams to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
The pilgrimage season begins in April or early May along the way, they encounter breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and pristine rivers. On reaching Kedarnath,pilgrims are greeted with the melodious sound of “OM NAMAH SHIVAYA”The atmosphere is filled with spirituality as devotees immerse themselves in devotion, meditation and self-reflection.
BADRINATH
It is an ancient religious centre. It is also famous for its natural beauty. The place gets its name from the world ‘Badri’, meaning ‘berries ‘. It is situated near the meeting points of two rivers -the Alaknanda and the Rishi Ganga. Badrinath attracts thousands of pilgrims all over India.
The Badrinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The deity is also known by the names like Badri Vishal and Badrinarayan.
Badrinath has a chilly and cold climate throughout the year. The peak season to visit this place is between May to June and September to October. Winters here are extremely cold due to heavy snowfall.
